Sale conditions of wood are specified by the regulation of Director – General of the Sate Forests.
Within the framework of the individual sale , the foresters try to meet the fast growing demand, because more and more people use wood in order to heat their houses. Contrary to general opinion, these are not only village people, even though they prevail among recipients. The growth of firewood demand is the result of occurrence of new housing estates built in the suburbs of large agglomerations, where houses are usually equipped in fireplace heating installations.
Firewood is not only the most ecological heat source, but also is much more attractive in respect of relation of price and electric efficiency, rather than cola, oil, gas or electric power.
In recent years, the Sate Forests increased the sale of firewood of one third – up to over 4 million cubic meters annually. Some of customers choose already prepared and cut into pieces wood, the others very willingly obtain it by themselves after arranging all details and fulfilling particular safety conditions, and after paying the fee; that concerns mainly so called "thinnings". Such a raw material is very cheap, that is why many people from village areas profit from such possibility.

Mistrzostwa Polski Leśników w szachach
Z dniach od 23 do 26 lutego 2014r. w Kistowie (RDLP Gdańsk, N-ctwo Lipusz) odbyły się XXII Międzynarodowe Mistrzostwa Polski Leśników w szachach. W zawodach uczestniczyło 50 szachistów z Polski, Węgier i Rumunii. RDLP w Łodzi na zawodach reprezentowali pracownicy z N-ctwa Gostynin – Dudziński Waldemar, N-ctwa Płock – Iller Adam, N-ctwa Poddębice – Godlewski Roman oraz N-ctwa Przedbórz – Gaj Jarosław.
W klasyfikacji indywidualnej mistrzostw zwyciężył szachista - leśnik z Węgier Jozsef Nemeth. Drugie miejsce zajął Tadeusz Walczak z RDLP Toruń, a trzecie miejsce zdobył Roman Godlewski z RDLP Łódź (N-ctwo Poddębice). Pozostali gracze z RDLP w Łodzi zajęli miejsca w drugiej dziesiątce: Dudziński Waldemar – 12, Gaj Jarosław – 18, Iller Adam – 20.
W rywalizacji drużynowej brało udział 21 zespołów. Najlepszą okazała się drużyna z Węgier, która zgromadziła na swym koncie 16,5 pkt. (Nemeth 9,0 pkt, Papp 7,5 pkt.). Drugie miejsce zajął zespół RDLP w Łodzi z dorobkiem 14,0 pkt. (Godlewski 7,5 pkt, Dudziński 6,5 pkt.). Trzecie miejsce z dorobkiem również 14,0 pkt. zdobyli szachiści z RDLP w Olsztynie (Klimek 7,0 pkt, Dziadoń 7,0 pkt.). O srebrnym medalu dla RDLP w Łodzi zadecydowało wyższe miejsce Godlewskiego w klasyfikacji indywidualnej.
